100 Reasons why the Bible does not use the word Trinity: Reason 25 of 100 [Searching for Jesus during the Exodus: The passover lamb]

Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever. And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service. And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD’S passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped. (Exodus 12:21-27 KJV)

Details of the Feasts and their possible symbols:

1 Exo 12:4   And if the household is too small for a lamb, then he and his nearest neighbor shall take according to the number of persons; according to what each can eat you shall make your count for the lamb. Symbol of fellowship.

They also had to EAT the Animal. Why?

The Passover ANIMAL becomes PART of YOU!

What is the SIGNIFICANCE of the ANIMAL becoming part of consumer?

2 Your lamb shall be without blemish YHWH wants us to be without blemish:

that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, (Philippians 2:15 ESV)

that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. (Ephesians 5:26-27 ESV)

Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. (2 Peter 3:14 ESV)

3 a male a year old ‘Prime’ animal!

Giving your best service!

4 Exo 12:9   Do not eat any of it raw or boiled in water, but roasted DIRECT FIRE:

so that the tested genuineness of your faith–more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire–may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 1:7 ESV)

each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. (1 Corinthians 3:13 ESV)

John answered them all, saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. (Luke 3:16 ESV)

5 unleavened bread 1Co 5:6   Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?

Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. (1 Corinthians 5:7-8 KJV)

Mat 16:6   Jesus said to them, “Watch and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

6 Bitter herbs So they ruthlessly made the people of Israel work as slaves and made their lives bitter with hard service, in mortar and brick, and in all kinds of work in the field. In all their work they ruthlessly made them work as slaves. (Exodus 1:13-14 ESV)

Deliverance from bitterness and there would be bitterness for the Egyptians on loss of their first born.

7 Exo 12:11   In this manner you shall eat it: with your belt fastened, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand. And you shall eat it in haste Seriousness in faith!

And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour. (Matthew 25:10-13 ESV)

8 Exo 12:46   It shall be eaten in one house; you shall not take any of the flesh outside the house, and you shall not break any of its bones. INSIDE the HOUSE: Emphasis is fellowship and equality and seriousness.

BONES: The beast would be whole and all members would dig in? Signifying fellowship and sharing.

All had equal right and part to salvation.

Unbroken sacrifice? i.e. complete sacrifice to God –i.e. living a fully dedicated life to God!

9 Exo 12:10   And you shall let none of it remain until the morning; anything that remains until the morning you shall burn.

SAME day consumption.

BURN/DESTROY leftovers.

i.e. Complete the task the same day! The Passover was only that night. After the event the Passover meat’s effect would be over! The Passover was to be consumed ONLY for the sake of Passover and not for any other purpose.

and that which remaineth of it until the morning, ye shall burn with fire: what of the flesh which remaineth not ate, and what of it that could not be eaten, as the bones, which were not broken, and the nerves and sinews, which might not be eaten; and so runs the Jewish canon (d),”the bones, and the sinews, and what remains, they shall burn on the sixteenth day; and if the sixteenth happens on the sabbath, they shall burn on the seventeenth.”The reason of this law was, that what was left might not be converted to common or superstitious uses, as also that the Israelites might not be burdened with it in their journey, nor the Egyptians have an opportunity of treating it with contempt.” – John Gill

Ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning – Merely to prevent putrefaction; for it was not meet that a thing offered to God should be subjected to corruption, which in such hot countries it must speedily undergo. Thus the body of our blessed Lord saw no corruption, Psa_16:10; Act_2:27, because, like the paschal lamb, it was a sacrifice offered to God. – Adam Clarke

Jesus existed in symbol in the Passover lamb and would be the Passover lamb of the whole world.  We consume the Passover so Jesus can become part of us and we can be like Jesus. Before Jesus ‘existed’ we related to perfection in the form of a ‘blameless male lamb’.  The example of Jesus is more powerful and real and far superior than of a dumb lamb. As Jesus said:

Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. (John 6:56 ESV)

Since Jesus did not exist at the time of the law, the lamb was given as a symbol of the perfect one to come. Neither Moses or Aaron or any of the Israelites were ever taught the Trinity.
